Choosing a New Camera – Panasonic

I have been looking for a new camera and have found a few to choose from, including the Panasonic Lumix CM1 compact camera.  I take many photographs each day with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ1 at the moment and really enjoy using it.  However, I have spotted this new version that would enable me to increase my knowledge of using a manual camera.

I am used to using the automatic features of my present camera yet the more I read and learn about the finer features of photography, the more I would like to use a more manual camera.  The Panasonic Lumix CM1 looks like a great camera for this.  I like that it is so compact as I have been looking at the larger manual cameras, that look too large for me to carry about at the moment.  I have enough to carry with taking two children and a dog out with me each time.  I have been reading about aperture, shutter speed as well as ISO and would really like to put these things into practice to improve my photography skills.

This compact Panasonic camera also has the latest video features on it, which would be great for videoing S and H or for finally plucking up the courage to start vlogging!  As this camera has Smartphone Technology, you can instantly share your videos and photos to Social Media so if I did start vlogging, I’d be able to upload to YouTube without any hassle.  I know how straight forward my current camera is to use so I imagine that the new version will be similar in this area.

As this Panasonic compact camera has all these great features, this is reflected in the price.  I think that it will take me some time to save up for one so in the mean time, I am going to continue my search.  Which camera do you have at the moment?  What would you recommend for someone wanting to improve their manual photography skills?

  1. I love the idea of being able to upload to YouTube directly – how much is it? I rely on my iphone too much and need to start using my ‘proper’ camera a bit more!!

  2. I have a Panasonic Lumix too but I should use my big Canon more as I don’t get quite the same photos with the lumix. So much to learn about taking photos though

  3. I have an older version of panasonic camera that I use all the time to take pictures of my food. I also have a canon DSLR which I use to take pictures of the final product of the food.

  4. Will have to look into this – me and my daughter have been getting really into photography lately, but only have a cheap point and shoot – and am torn between getting something better quality, but still easy to use – or whether to brave the unknowns of the dslr world!

  5. I have a Canon 100D, which is a compact DSLR. I’m really happy with it because auto mode is great but I also use some of the simpler settings to get best results (e.g. when taking a photo of my fast-moving 6 year old son).

  6. OOOOooooo LOVE!!! We have a FZ150 AND TZ55
We love Panasonic, if I could get all of their cameras I would.
    Thanks for sharing this hun

  7. I’m literally on my 3rd Sony Cybershot – I think I must be a creature of habit. I am terrified to go near a manual DLSR camera x

I'd love to hear what you think about this. Thank you!
