BBQ Rump Steaks

BBQ Rump Steaks With Citrus Dip

This year, we are trying to make our British barbecue more exciting by using a wider range of recipes than the usual food that we seem to make each year. We have been experimenting with Simply Beef and Lamb’s Citrus Marinated Steaks recipe to add more flavours to our barbecue. Our BBQ Rump Steaks with Citrus Dip can be used with steaks in a variety of ways. We have also been trying out different potato side dishes.

Red Tractor Quality Beef

We always make sure that we buy farm assured quality beef by buying meat that has the Red Tractor logo on the packet. The Red Tractor logo means that the meat can be traced back to the farms the livestock came from. These farms meet comprehensive standards of hygiene, safety, environmental protection and animal welfare at every stage from farm to fork.

Hosting a BBQ

Inviting family around for a barbecue meant the usual, traditional menu ideas immediately came to mind. As we only have a few barbecues per year, I wanted to make this one extra special. I didn’t feel very inspired by the usual foods that I would serve and wanted to make something a bit more flavourful and impressive.

Impressive Flame Grilled Steaks

Steaks are so easy to cook and are perfect for the barbecue. I immediately felt inspired to make some marinades and dips to go with the rump steak that I had in the fridge. The steaks were cut into squares to put in ciabattas with our Summer Fruits Marinated Steak with Summer Fruits Chutney. They were also cut into strips to dip into our delicious citrus dip. This citrus dip could also be used as a marinade for the rump steak or as a dressing to drizzle over steak kebabs. We also used the citrus dip as a dressing for some new potatoes. This led on to us making our Sundried Tomato and Mushroom New Potatoes recipe to serve too.

Steaks are so versatile that they can be enjoyed on their own or they can take on other delicious flavours as well. I hadn’t thought to put citrus flavours with beef before and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this combination tastes. You don’t see steaks on the barbecue very often but they add so much to it. From being impressive and special to being easy to cook and take on all sorts of flavours, steaks will definitely be much higher up my shopping list for barbecue foods in the future.
