This month, our lovely Floppy dog has been treated to some Pooch & Mutt Calm & Relaxed grain-free dog food to try. Pooch & Mutt are said to be the UK’s leading premium, natural and ethical dog nutrition company. We chose the Calm & Relaxed complete dried dog food for Floppy as she is very excitable and we wanted to see if it helped to calm her down.
The Pooch & Mutt Calm & Relaxed turkey and sweet potato dog food is sold in bags of 2kg (£13.99) and 8kg (£41.99). This product contains ingredients that help to keep dogs healthy as part of the Nutra-bionic supplement. I was interested in this as H and I are intolerant to certain foods and I am aware that dogs can also be intolerant to different foods too. Sometimes, this is the reason that dogs can feel uncomfortable and so act as if they are stressed. This brand of dog food contains no wheat, corn, rice, beef, soya or dairy products that can be the cause of discomfort in dogs. Even though I don’t think that Floppy is intolerant to any of these, I think that feeding my dog a type of dog food that has more ingredients I have heard of, such as turkey, sweet potato, probiotics, prebiotics, potato, peas as well as others, is better for her than other dog foods I have read where I am not sure what the ingredients are exactly.
Floppy went to her new bowl of food immediately. After her first mouthful, she walked away for ten minutes then came back to finish her bowl. I think she did this as I didn’t introduce this new food gradually as I should have. There is more guidance on how to do this on the Pooch & Mutt website.
On her next few bowls, Floppy ate it straight away. To me, Floppy seems slightly calmer than she was previously so this dog food has helped her. I think that this is a product that I would purchase again as I like that she obviously enjoys eating it and I like that the ingredients are familiar to me.
Other types of dog food that Pooch & Mutt sell are ‘Move Easy,’ Slim & Slender,’ Fresh Breath,’ and ‘Digestion & Wind.’ They also sell treats and supplements.
Disclosure: We were sent a 2kg pack of Pooch & Mutt Calm and Relaxed dog food for the purposes of this review. All opinions are honest and my own. Prices correct according to the Pooch & Mutt website in April 2015.
